In his opening remarks, Mr. Yasushi Akashi highlighted the significance of the appearance of Ms. Tomoko Akane, President of the International Criminal Court, and a keynote speech by Mr. Motoo Noguchi, Director of the Global Peacebuilding Association of Japan (GPAJ). Mr. Akashi also noted that the forum would examine the Pact for the Future, adopted by the Summit of the Future in New York in September 2024. In the age of big crises and risks, the Pact indicated the path to a bright future for humanity if the member states remain committed to international cooperation in development, international peace and security, and human rights, three pillars enshrined by the United Nations Charter.
