Ms. Fumiko Fukuoka has been the Director of the UNWOMEN Japan Office since November 2023. Previously, she served as UNDP’s Arab Bureau Headquarters Public Affairs & Partnerships Team Leader/Senior Advisor from February 2014 to November 2023, and before that, as Senior Advisor, Global Environmental Financing, Policy Bureau, New York Headquarters, from 2008 to 2014. 2003-2008, served as Deputy Resident Representative/Temporary Resident Representative in the UNDP Syria Office. Prior to joining the United Nations, he served as the Japan Representative for Conservation International, an international environmental NGO based in Washington, DC, USA, from 1990 to 2002. He holds a Master’s degree from the School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), Johns Hopkins University, USA.(09/11/2024)
